Here is a selection of highlights that can be found on The Algarve.

Vilamoura

Either across the land or sailing through the sea, Vilamoura is known by travellers around the world as the gateway to The Algarve. This is Europes biggest private tourist complex with an area of 1600 hectares and five golf courses. It began to be projected in the sixties and grew around its trademark centre - the Vilamoura Marina. Surrounded by hotels and resorts with many restaurants and fashion shops, side by side with the casino this is the perfect place for those who wish to be seen. The Marina's bustle lasts all year round. On sunny winter days the open air cafes fill with golfers, sailors and visitors and in the summer entertainment is guaranteed. Following the path along the "U" which embraces the marina - full of masts swinging from side to side with the powerful motor-boats that moor there - is a famous Algarve ritual at the end of the day. The families and children arrive, enjoying themselves by walking around the Marina or visiting the commercial arcades. At night the Marina bursts into life with numerous eating places and night clubs.

Aqualand

Aqualand is the largest water amusement park in Europe. It opens from May to September and is serviced by many buses. It is a complete day out for all the family and not to be missed..

Albufeira

Bodies lying in the sun or practising water sports Music in the streets coming from the many bars. Boards coloured with chalk announcing "happy hours, " sardines or english breakfasts. This is the way summer is spent in Albufeira, which was once Roman. Competition is strong and the bustle is great. Visitors only have to worry about what to choose.

Old Albufeira is a short walk away. This is the older part of the city there are many small winding lanes full of bars, restaurants and street amusements. At night this place is alive till the early hours.

Almancil

Almancil is a short taxi ride from Vilamoura. Iit is located in the area known as The Golden Triangle. In The Golden Triangle there is Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Logo which are made up of villas and apartments ranging in prices up to many millions of euros. Many famous people also live here or holiday here. Keep your eyes open because you don't know who you are going to see. The beaches here are superb.

Algarve shopping centre

This shopping complex is relatively new. It is full of many up market shops. You could say it is a small Bluewater. There are many designer shops there and a large food hall on the first floor. Directly behind the shopping centre Cliff Richard has his vineyard and his property. You are able to do a tour of the vineyard but not of his property.

Portimao Shopping Centre

Aqua retail park is now open at Portimao where there are many shops such as Pull & Bear, H&M, C&A, and Primark to name just a few and car parking is free.

Zoomarine
